Newberry sits in the southwest corner of Alachua County, on the karst side of the Cody Scarp. Ocala Limestone sits within a few feet of the surface here, and the Floridan aquifer is unconfined. That geology rewards a contractor who has seen it, and it punishes one who hasn’t.
That’s the starting point. What comes after it is where local knowledge matters.
The problem features in this ground aren’t always in the top few feet. Solution cavities, raveled zones, and soft soil pockets tend to sit in the limestone and the loose soil just above it, so a shallow look at a site can miss them. Add the wet season, when perched water tables rise well above the regional aquifer, and a dig that looked simple on paper can turn into rock, soft ground, or standing water by the second day.
Along SR 26, the US 27-41 crossing, and the CR 337 parcels around town, we’ve excavated pads, ponds, ditches, and driveways on ground that doesn’t behave like the sandy fill most people expect from Florida.
On Track Land Management LLC works Newberry’s limestone-influenced ground. We plan for what’s under the surface before we dig.

Several acres were extremely overgrown, but now we can clearly see the lay of the land. Cody was professional, very responsive, and great to work with. We’re looking forward to the next phase!Posted on Google curtiss mecuskerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cody did a great job clear cutting and also removing 6 inch trees and smaller, also underbrush , from my property. He gave me good advice , he was willing to include changes as the job progressed and worked hard to complete the job on schedule. I will be using him in the future for additional clearing and dirt wok.Posted on Google Blane EvansTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing job!!! Very punctual and does exceptional work!! Will be using him again for another project in the near future. He is very honest with people about jobs and he values honesty over making money from people. His honesty and advice saved me over $5000 on a different job that another company quoted me. Will be recommending Mr. Cody Gabbard to anyone in the future that needs brush work removal, soil leveling or any skid steer related work for their property. I would not go with anyone else but him because he is the best there is. Exceptional work!!Posted on Google Lea BrecknerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Removing debris is about more than just maintaining appearance—it protects your property from pest infestations, drainage blockages, and fire hazards.
Efficient excavation here starts with knowing where the rock and the water are, before the bucket goes in.
Site assessment comes first. We walk the property, read the terrain, and look for surface signs of shallow limestone, soft or depressed ground, and drainage patterns. We confirm utility locations and check what the wet season does to that parcel.
From there, we scope the work to the ground. Pads, ponds, ditches, retention areas, and driveway cuts each get a plan sized to the soil, the rock depth we expect, and the water table at that time of year.
Excavation proceeds to spec with equipment suited to the conditions. If we meet limestone or soft pockets, we adjust on site and tell you what changed and why. Spoil is stockpiled for reuse where it suits the job and hauled where it doesn’t.
Final grade is set for drainage so water moves away from the work instead of settling into it.
We finish with a walkthrough to confirm the dig matches the plan and the site is ready for the next phase.

Southwest Alachua County has shallow Ocala Limestone, so it’s possible. We assess the site before digging and tell you upfront where rock or soft ground is likely, so cost doesn’t change halfway through the job.
It depends on size, depth, soil, rock, and water conditions. We quote after assessing the property, since two lots in Newberry can dig very differently.
The drier months give the most reliable conditions, with lower water tables and firmer ground. We can work in the wet season too, with a plan built around the water.
Both. Excavation without a drainage plan tends to leave standing water, so we set final grade to move water off the work area.
Yes. We handle home pads, driveways, ponds, ditches, and land work across Newberry and the surrounding parts of Alachua County.
