Newberry gets most of its rain in a few months. Alachua County averages about 48 inches a year, and summer alone brings roughly 20 of them, mostly in fast, heavy thunderstorms. A driveway or private road that looks fine in spring can be rutted, washed out, or under water by August if it wasn’t built to move that much water.
That’s the starting point. What comes after it is where local knowledge matters.
Newberry sits in karst country, and the ground here can move. When Hurricane Debby’s rain hit in August 2024, a sinkhole 35 feet wide and 15 feet deep opened on West Newberry Road (SR 26) and closed it in both directions. Concentrated runoff is a real factor in how ground behaves, so where a driveway or road sends its water matters as much as how the surface is built.
Along SR 26 and the rural roads branching off toward SW 15th Avenue, we build and repair driveways and private roads for properties that need to hold up through the wet season.
On Track Land Management LLC has worked Alachua County ground for years. We build roads for what Florida’s summers actually do to them.

Several acres were extremely overgrown, but now we can clearly see the lay of the land. Cody was professional, very responsive, and great to work with. We’re looking forward to the next phase!Posted on Google curtiss mecuskerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cody did a great job clear cutting and also removing 6 inch trees and smaller, also underbrush , from my property. He gave me good advice , he was willing to include changes as the job progressed and worked hard to complete the job on schedule. I will be using him in the future for additional clearing and dirt wok.Posted on Google Blane EvansTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing job!!! Very punctual and does exceptional work!! Will be using him again for another project in the near future. He is very honest with people about jobs and he values honesty over making money from people. His honesty and advice saved me over $5000 on a different job that another company quoted me. Will be recommending Mr. Cody Gabbard to anyone in the future that needs brush work removal, soil leveling or any skid steer related work for their property. I would not go with anyone else but him because he is the best there is. Exceptional work!!Posted on Google Lea BrecknerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Removing debris is about more than just maintaining appearance—it protects your property from pest infestations, drainage blockages, and fire hazards.
A driveway that fails every summer usually wasn’t built with water in mind. We start with where the water goes.
Site assessment comes first. We walk the property to evaluate existing grade, low spots, runoff paths, and any signs of past settling or sinkhole activity before deciding on a layout. We also look at where water will be directed, because pushing runoff toward a depression or an existing sinkhole feature creates a new problem.
From there, we build the driveway or road with proper crown, a compacted base suited to the load it will carry, and drainage designed for Florida storm volumes, including ditching and culverts sized for concentrated flow.
Grading and surfacing proceed to spec, covering the full run rather than only the sections that are failing visibly, since the cause is often upstream of the symptom.
We finish with a final walkthrough to confirm water has somewhere safe to go, so the first big summer storm doesn’t undo the work.

Newberry gets about 20 inches of rain in summer, often in heavy bursts. A driveway built without proper crown, base, and drainage can’t shed that much water. The fix is rebuilding those three things, not just adding more material on top.
Cost depends on length, width, base material, and how much drainage work is needed. We quote after walking the property, since runoff paths and low spots change the scope.
Yes. We install culverts and ditching as part of the build, and we check for signs of settling or sinkhole features first, so drainage isn’t pointed at ground that can’t take it.
Yes. We handle residential driveways, farm and ranch access roads, and longer private roads across Newberry and Alachua County.
With the right crown, base, and drainage, a driveway can go years before major work, and routine grading and surface upkeep are usually enough to keep it in shape.
